About

The Location

Bhutan, often called the ‘last Shangri-La,’ is a secluded Himalayan kingdom known for its untouched landscapes and deep-rooted Buddhist culture. Protected by law, its diverse geography ranges from snow-capped mountains in the north to lush valleys and subtropical plains in the south.

Buddhism has been the state religion since the 7th century, and Bhutanese traditions remain strong, with locals still wearing traditional attire and many temples and dzongs dotting the landscape. Tourism is carefully controlled, with a daily visitor tax to preserve the environment.

Popular activities include trekking, mountain-biking, and exploring vibrant cultural sites. The national sport, archery, is celebrated with colorful competitions. Bhutan is also known for its unique handicrafts and simple yet flavorful cuisine, highlighted by dishes like ‘ema datse’ (chilies with cheese) and ‘momos’ (dumplings).
