Tengile River Lodge, aptly named for its serene location along the banks of the Sand River, offers sweeping river views from every angle, making it a standout choice in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve. This reserve is renowned for its rich wildlife diversity, including the Big Five, and shares an unfenced boundary with Kruger National Park, ensuring extraordinary game viewing experiences. With strict vehicle limits, guests can enjoy exclusive encounters, particularly with the area's famed leopards, during guided game drives across 10,500 hectares (26,000 acres).
The lodge features nine spacious, air-conditioned suites nestled in the bushveld's dappled shade, each boasting panoramic river views. Each suite includes a master bedroom, an ensuite bathroom with an outdoor shower, a lounge, dining area, fully-stocked bar, and outdoor seating that promises breathtaking vistas. A private lap pool on the expansive deck enhances the tranquil ambiance, while two suites can be connected via a covered walkway to form a family suite.
Tengile River Lodge's communal areas offer a mix of open, interactive, and private spaces. Highlights include a viewing deck, a library filled with curated objects and fascinating books, and bespoke furnishings crafted by skilled local artisans. Plastic Reduction: 53,362 plastic water bottles eliminated annually through on-site bottling plants.
Wastewater Management: 40,000 liters of wastewater reused daily; 100% of lodges equipped with advanced treatment plants.
Carbon Footprint Reduction: 5.4 kg CO2 reduction per guest annually since 2018; 18% improvement in sustainability audit scores since 2016.
Wildlife Conservation Education: 64 learners and teachers educated on conservation, fostering community empowerment.
Biodiversity Impact: &Beyond Ngala Private Game Reserve (14,700 ha) and Sabi Sand Game Reserve (10,500 ha) enrich 25,200 hectares of biodiversity.
Economic Contributions: 414,000 ZAR in annual park fees; 50 million ZAR disbursed to local communities (2018-2020).

In the afternoon, relax at the lodge and perhaps join the chef for a complementary cooking lesson in the interactive kitchen, where you can learn the secrets behind the lodge's world-class dining experience. As evening descends, set off on an exhilarating game drive, returning to indulge in a pan-African al fresco dinner under the stars in the lodge’s traditional boma, surrounded by the warmth of an open blazing fire. After dinner, gather around the crackling firepit, where you can unpack the day's adventures over a bottle of bubbly or sip a steaming hot tea while listening to captivating bush tales from your guide. The Tengile bar serves as the heart of the lodge, where guests and staff come together to socialize and enjoy a selection of local craft beers or gin, all while soaking in the gorgeous views of the Sand River.
